Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and rebuild lumber manufacturing equipment at our Eugene, Oregon fabrication shop. The role involves improving lumber processing equipment and modeling concepts in 3D, with leadership responsibilities for assemblers and machinists.

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and related experience are preferred. You’ll work to understand applications, coordinate new equipment development, and supervise installations while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 1 year experience in lumber industry and/or machine design preferred.
• Experience with SolidWorks or 3D modeling software; FEA analysis is a plus.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, drives, welding, and machining preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and rebuild lumber manufacturing equipment.
• Assist in the development and improvement of lumber processing equipment.
• Model detailed concepts and designs using 3D modeling software.
• Provide leadership and direction to assemblers and machinists.
• Work with operations to understand application and needs; coordinate development of new equipment.
• Plan and supervise equipment installation, upgrades, and start-ups.
• Continually learn and improve knowledge of industry and equipment.
