Job summary

North Wind Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for LLNL-based projects in Livermore, CA. The role focuses on conceiving and delivering high-precision mechanical, optical, and diagnostic hardware for national-security related research facilities.

You'll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and vendors to ensure design intent and performance targets are met. Applicants should have strong 3D CAD skills, Creo Parametric expertise, and experience with GD&T.

Qualifications

• AS degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Experience with design concepts across mechanical, optical and electrical sub-disciplines.
• Ability to develop from conception to completion of complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs of hardware for laser, optics, mechanical and diagnostic applications.
• Create assembly and fabrication drawings with GD&T using ASME Y14.5.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analyses to validate form, fit, function and cost.
• Conduct basic stress/strain assessments to justify material decisions.
