Job summary

Northwood Space is seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer Intern to join our team, assisting in designing structures, tooling, and hardware for ground station antennas. You will work with RF, electrical, and manufacturing engineers under the guidance of senior team members.

This hands-on internship provides exposure to CAD modeling (Siemens NX, SolidWorks), design reviews, manufacturability considerations, and fabrication tooling for global deployments.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Foundational understanding of mechanical design, thermal management, and materials.
• Familiar with CAD software for 3D modeling and drafting.
• Interest in manufacturability and hardware design for space systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing components, structures, and tooling for ground stations.
• Contribute to fixture design, weldments, and test fixtures.
• Collaborate with RF, electrical, and manufacturing teams to meet requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback.
• Help ensure compliance with mechanical, thermal, and environmental standards.
