Job summary

Northwood Space seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design structures, tooling, and hardware for our global satellite ground stations. You will work with RF, electrical, and manufacturing teams to deliver manufacturable solutions that meet performance and reliability goals.

This on-site role in Torrance, CA requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, 5+ years of hardware design experience, and the ability to obtain a U.S. government clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years designing and building hardware.
• Experience taking a product from concept to production.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles including thermal management and materials selection.

Responsibilities

• Design multiple product lines, structures, mechanisms, environmental systems, and GSE for ground stations.
• Design RF waveguide filtering and feed structures for high performance antennas.
• Create tooling for fabrication and assembly, including test fixtures and weldments.
• Collaborate with RF, electrical, and manufacturing teams to ensure feasible requirements.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards in mechanical, thermal, and environmental design.
• Participate in design reviews and provide objective feedback.
