Leonardo Electronics US Inc. seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer II in Tucson, AZ. The role combines hands-on development in our cleanroom with design ownership from concept through prototype testing and delivery.

You will work with internal engineering teams, PMs, and vendors to ensure designs are innovative and manufacturable, and guide technicians during projects. A fast-paced, high-tech environment awaits those eager to expand their skills.

Formación

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (ABET-accredited) required.
• Minimum 2 years of related engineering design and development experience.
• Hands-on development and prototype builds in a cleanroom environment up to 50% of time.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for mechanical design and detailing.
• Experience with FEA related to thermal and fluid flow is a plus.
• Familiarity with manufacturing precision mechanical components from metals and ceramics.

Responsabilidades

• Core design & analysis of heatsinks, heat exchangers, and optomechanical assemblies.
• Design and develop laser diode packages and tooling for testing and production.
• Apply engineering principles to solve technical challenges and deliver high-performance solutions.
• Generate BOMs, lifecycle documentation, and work instructions.
• Collaborate with program managers to manage design/built outcomes within scope and budget; assist transfer to production.
• Prepare and present clear analysis results and design reviews to teams.
• Hands-on prototype assembly and debugging, including laser test systems and cooling systems.
