Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, seeks a Product Development Engineer - Mechanical Design in Santa Clara, CA. You will develop high-speed IO products for 112Gb signaling, ensure manufacturability, and meet electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements within a global cross-functional team.

The role involves interaction with suppliers, customers, and internal teams, with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with high-speed interconnects and cable assemblies is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, FMEA and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop cable assemblies and IO systems from proposal to qualification.
• Perform Design FMEA, tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability, FEA and risk analysis.
• Work with Marketing and the customer to define needs and performance requirements; assess technical risk.
• Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing disciplines to optimize design for production processes.
• Lead product design reviews.
• Verify accuracy of drawings and enforce GD&T usage.
• Work with Materials Engineering to define material choices based on performance and cost.
• Present concepts to customers early and incorporate feedback.
• Define product, application, and packaging specifications; plan verification and qualification tests.
• Manage resolution of first article inspections.
• Assist in transitioning to manufacturing and mentoring global teams.
• Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
