Job summary

Otis is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to model and generate drawings for a broad range of mechanical hardware used in elevator systems. You will provide design support, develop component solutions, and help resolve engineering issues while collaborating across teams.

The role requires Creo experience, strong math skills, and hands-on programming using Notepad. Expect multi-project delivery and a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school or GED required.
• 3 years of design or drafting experience.
• Experience with Creo 10 or higher.
• Proficient in programming, with hands-on experience writing, editing, and troubleshooting code using Notepad and other text-based development tools.
• Component, Assembly, Subsystem, and System Modeling.
• Clearance and interference studies.
• Use of advanced mathematics techniques for part fitment and design feasibility.
• Experience with defining welding, GD&T, tolerancing, material specifications and finishes within drawings and models.
• Parametric design and programming.
• Collaboration with Engineers and internal customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide design support to internal and external customers.
• Modify and develop new component solutions to increase product robustness.
• Support resolution of engineering issues.
• Develop component and system level models and drawings.
• Support cost reduction efforts.
• Support FTB reduction.
• Support Engineers with 3D studies and prototyping.
• Support engineering CN process.
• Support to system level model updates.
