ASSA ABLOY in Monroe, NC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and support configurable automatic door products from concept through production release.

The role involves creating 3D models, drawings, and BOMs, building and testing prototypes, and validating performance. Collaboration with manufacturing, sourcing, and product management is essential for successful product launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of product design experience in electromechanical, hardware, building products, or related industries.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software; SolidWorks strongly preferred.
• Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and multi-level BOMs.
• Hands-on experience in an engineering laboratory, prototype shop, or similar technical environment.
• Knowledge of aluminum, steel, and glass design applications.
• Experience tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T principles.
• Familiarity with basic electromechanical systems and component integration.
• Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop new automatic door products, options, and product enhancements while balancing performance, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and product configurability.
• Partner with product management, manufacturing, sourcing, field service, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and transform them into effective engineering solutions.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, multi‑level BOMs, and complete product documentation.
• Build, test, and evaluate prototypes; develop test plans, analyze results, and implement design improvements based on findings.
• Apply sound engineering principles related to material selection, tolerance analysis, GD&T, and electromechanical integration.
