Job summary

Skydio, based in San Mateo, CA, seeks a mechanical engineer to design assemblies for aircraft and accessories, collaborating with electrical engineers on PCBAs and harnesses. You will own vendor interactions, testing, and manufacturing support from prototyping to mass production.

The role emphasizes fast prototyping, manufacturing-aware design, and strong problem-solving in a dynamic engineering team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with demonstrated academic excellence.
Mastery of 3D CAD, specifically CATIA, for developing complex assemblies.
Experience with injection molding, metal casting, and CNC machining.

Responsibilities

Design mechanical parts and assemblies for aircraft, ground stations, and accessories from ground-up as part of new architectures.
Collaborate with electrical engineers to shape and integrate PCBAs, flex circuits, antennas, and cable harnesses.
Interface with vendors in partnership with operations and supply chain teams.
Define and execute engineering tests and analyze system trade-offs to prove designs.
Drive designs from prototyping to pre-production and mass production; support manufacturing with assembly processes and inspection criteria.
Debug and investigate failures to reach root causes.
