Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Design Engineer in Salt Lake City, UT, to design mechanical equipment and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor, developing detailed 3D models, layouts, and BOMs for manufacturability and robust performance.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, project, and field teams throughout the design process, performing calculations, evaluating designs for fit and reliability, and supporting reviews and implementation. A hands-on, practical engineering approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor strongly preferred.
• Experience designing mechanical equipment, machinery, or automated systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with welded structures, sheet metal, fabricated components, bearings, shafts, motors, or similar machine components is a plus.
• Ability to take projects from concept through detailed design and manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on engineering mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical equipment, assemblies, and components using Autodesk Inventor.
• Develop detailed 3D models, production drawings, layouts, and BOMs.
• Design fabricated and machined components with manufacturability in mind.
• Perform engineering calculations and evaluate designs for fit, function, and reliability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, project, and field teams throughout the design process.
• Modify and improve existing equipment based on performance and project requirements.
• Support design reviews, troubleshooting, and implementation.
• Manage engineering changes and maintain accurate design documentation.
