Job summary

Honda is seeking an entry-level Engineer to set part specifications by drawing issues and BOM management, with guidance and support. Responsibilities include scheduling from concept to mass production, 3D modeling, drawing creation, and cost negotiation with suppliers to ensure value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 0-2 years of experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Information retention and organization.
• Short, mid, long term scheduling and time management.
• 3D parametric modelling: creation of new as well as modification of existing models using solid and surfacing techniques.
• Drawing creation and dimensioning.
• Ability to analyze clearance by identifying variation factors and calculating tolerance stack up.
• Design for assembly/manufacturing considering processes such as casting, machining, stamping, and/or plastic injection molding.
• Resolve cross-functional issues by identifying decision-making factors, gathering/summarizing relevant data, & negotiating with related parties.
• Cost calculation and design optimization for cost. Able to evaluate supplier quotations and modify designs to reduce part cost.

Responsibilities

• Schedule planning, management & reporting: establish and manage overall development schedule for assigned part(s) from concept to mass production.
• Design conceptualization: determine what aspects of assigned part(s) must be changed and/or verified.
• Design execution: establish 3D layout concept and mature to fully defined 3D model; revise as needed if failures arise.
• Drawing creation and issuance: define the specification in the drawing to ensure part will be created and assembled as designed.
• Cost calculation, correlation & reporting: estimate cost and work with purchasing to negotiate with supplier for best cost.
• Change point verification: evaluate impacts of vehicle changes and verify all confirmation items.
• Internal & External collaboration.
• Countermeasure development.
• Document creation, reporting & follow up: create documentation and respond to follow ups.
