Job summary

Honda is seeking a Die & Mold Design Lead for North American mass production facilities. You will produce 3D models and detailed drawings while collaborating with customers and internal teams to ensure high-quality parts and production stability.

Responsibilities include designing die and mold tooling, translating customer specifications into new or existing dies, and supporting installation at production sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering, or an Associate’s Degree with 3 years of additional relevant experience, or 6 years with no degree.
• 0-2 years relevant experience, co-op experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Computer Aided Design software; mechanical/manufacturing knowledge.

• Investigate improvements or countermeasure tooling related problems during die/mold builds and mass production.
• Follow design and manufacturing of suppliers of dies/molds and equipment.

Job Purpose

Responsible for leading die/mold designs for North American mass production facilities with outputs in the form of 3D models and detailed drawings while working closely with customers and internal team members to ensure high quality parts and production stability.

Key Accountabilities

• Design Die & Mold tooling utilizing Computer Aided Design software
• Implement customer specifications and request into new and existing dies/molds
• Investigate improvements or countermeasure tooling related problems during die/mold builds and mass production
• Follow design and manufacturing of suppliers of dies/molds and equipment
• Support installation of dies/molds and other equipment at production facilities

Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering, Associate’s Degree in related field with 3 years of additional relevant experience, or 6 years of additional relevant experience with no degree

Minimum Experience

• 0-2 years relevant experience, co-op experience preferred

Other Job-Specific Skills

• Familiarity with Computer Aided Design software
• Mechanical/manufacturing knowledge

Working Conditions

• 70% office environment: sitting for extended periods and working on PC equipment
• 20% manufacturing environment: Personal Protextive Equipment required at all times in manufacturing environment, standing for prolonged periods (up to 8hrs), occasionally lifting up to 40lbs, occasionally working inside casting machines, potential exposure to heat, occasional exposure to dust, oil or grease
• Up to 10% travel required, including international (Japan, Canada, Mexico)
