Job summary

Hydrasearch is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Stevensville, MD to design and improve fluid-transfer components and mechanical hardware for demanding applications.

You will create 3D CAD models and drawings, apply GD&T, prototype, test, and work with cross-functional teams from concept through production. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential; AS9100/ISO knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of engineering experience; internships or co-op welcome.
• Assemble, test, and document mechanical designs with a manufacturing focus.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve mechanical components and assemblies; create 3D CAD models and drawings; apply GD&T; support prototyping and testing.

Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: 203A Log Canoe Circle, Stevensville, MD 21666
Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Salary Range: $70,000 - $110,000/yr

Hydrasearch is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Stevensville, MD. In this role, you will support and improve engineered fluid-transfer components and mechanical hardware used in demanding commercial, aerospace and defense applications.

This is a hands‑on engineering role that spans the product lifecycle—from requirements and mechanical design through prototyping, manufacturing, assembly and continuous improvement. You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and suppliers to develop practical, manufacturable solutions and help resolve production challenges. This role provides the opportunity to work directly with physical products throughout the design and manufacturing process. Industry‑specific experience is helpful but not required.

What You’ll Do:

Product Design & Development:

Design and improve mechanical components and assemblies, create 3D CAD models and engineering drawings, apply mechanical design and GD&T principles, support prototyping and testing, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop manufacturable products from concept through production.

Manufacturing & Production Support:

Maintain product and manufacturing documentation, support production and assembly processes, troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues, establish inspection requirements, and collaborate with production teams to resolve operational challenges.

Supplier & Cross‑Functional Support:

Partner with suppliers and internal teams to communicate technical requirements, support engineering decisions, and resolve product, manufacturing, and production‑related issues.

Product Improvement & Change Control:

Support product and process improvements, manage engineering changes and revision control, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of products.

What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

2-5 years of engineering experience; strong entry‑level candidates with relevant internships, co‑op experience or hands‑on engineering projects will also be considered.

• Ability to work directly with manufacturing personnel, suppliers and cross‑functional teams.
• Practical problem‑solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation; strong fundamentals in mechanical design, statics, tolerances and manufacturing methods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Machined, cast, forged, fabricated or assembled products.
• Fluid‑transfer components or related mechanical hardware.
• Aerospace, defense, marine or other demanding applications.
• BOMs, routers or work instructions.
• Engineering change or configuration control.
• GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
• SolidWorks PDM or another product data management system.
• AS9100, ISO 9001 or another controlled manufacturing environment.
