Hydrasearch in Stevensville, MD is seeking a Senior Quality Control Engineer to support QC, manufacturing, and engineering in a high‑mix environment. You will analyze quality data, develop inspection plans, and drive root-cause corrective actions, working on-site across QC, production, and office areas.

The role requires a Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial/Quality Engineering degree and 5–10 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource to QC and Manufacturing, resolving complex product and process issues.

• Plan and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102 and customer requirements; support PPAP as needed.
• Translate drawings and requirements into practical inspection plans and criteria.
• Develop and improve inspection methods, control plans, and quality documentation for production processes.
• Support supplier quality activities including qualification, technical reviews, and corrective actions.
• Analyze quality data to identify trends and risks; communicate findings to leadership.

Senior Quality Control Engineer

Location: 203A Log Canoe Circle, Stevensville, MD 21666
Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay Range: $85,000 - $135,000/annually

Hydrasearch is seeking a Senior Quality Control Engineer to provide technical support to Quality Control, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain in a high-mix manufacturing environment. This position serves as a technical resource when inspectors or production personnel encounter complex product, measurement, drawing, documentation, or process issues. This role will help resolve problems, prevent recurring issues, improve inspection methods, and strengthen quality processes across the organization.

What You'll Do:

• Serve as a technical resource to Quality Control and Manufacturing personnel, resolving complex product, measurement, drawing, documentation, and process issues.
• Investigate nonconformances and manufacturing issues, support root-cause and corrective-action activities, and coordinate resolution with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
• Plan, prepare, coordinate, and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 and customer requirements, and support PPAP activities as required.
• Translate engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and quality requirements into practical inspection plans, acceptance criteria, measurement methods, and quality documentation.
• Develop and improve inspection methods, sampling plans, control plans, work instructions, and other quality documentation to support effective inspection and production processes.
• Support supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification, technical reviews, source inspections, corrective actions, and process assessments.
• Analyze quality data and QC metrics to identify trends, quality risks, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings and recommended actions to leadership.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to inspectors and partner with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and suppliers to improve product quality, inspection effectiveness, and manufacturing processes.
• Work in an on-site manufacturing environment, dividing time between the office, Quality Control department, and production areas. This may include standing for extended periods, inspecting parts or assemblies, using measurement equipment, safely lifting or moving items, interacting with suppliers, and occasional travel as needed.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, supplier quality, or a related manufacturing role.
• Strong working knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T.
• Experience investigating product or process nonconformances and applying structured root-cause and corrective-action methods.
• Experience developing inspection methods, plans, documentation, or process controls.
• Working knowledge of mechanical measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, and other precision inspection tools.
• Ability to analyze technical data and turn findings into practical corrective or preventive actions.
• Experience with ERP, quality-management, or manufacturing information systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and external suppliers.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in aerospace, defense, maritime, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, AS9145, or comparable quality and product-approval standards.
• Ability to prepare, review, and approve FAIR and PPAP documentation.
• Proven involvement in supplier qualification, development, auditing, and corrective action activities.
• Advanced understanding of metrology and GD&T.
• Proficiency with Infor SyteLine or a similar manufacturing ERP system.
• Hands-on use of CMMs, optical measurement systems, 3D scanning technologies, and measurement-system analysis.
• Strong knowledge of statistical process control, process capability studies, sampling methods, and quality-data analysis.
• Familiarity with machined components, fabricated assemblies, welding, brazing, plating, heat treatment, and other special manufacturing processes.
• Professional certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt are preferred.
