Job summary

Bastion Technologies, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the space program at Cape Canaveral, FL. You will develop mechanical and electrical system components, maintain CAD drawings, and aid cross‑discipline product development with MGSE engineers.

Responsibilities include CREO-based part/drawing work, BOM creation, and layout drawings compliant with ASME Y14.5; you’ll help improve manufacturability and product quality while collaborating with the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required; U.S. citizenship or eligibility may be needed.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and GD&T is required.
• Experience with machine tool design or tool modification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Use CREO to develop plans, drawings, models, and assemblies.
• Create new parts, BOMs, drawings, and installation representations.
• Support team with design knowledge and cross-discipline collaboration.
• Prepare production detail drawings and layout drawings per ASME Y14.5.

Job description

The Mechanical Design Engineer will support the space program located in Cape Canaveral, FL. Engineers & Designers will work closely with MGSE engineers to provide components or portions of system designs to include handling, lifting, test, assembly and transportation of mechanical, and electrical components. The selected candidates will be responsible for engineering documentation, drawing/Computer Aided Design (CAD) maintenance and verification, and support of cross-discipline product development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Use CREO to develop plans, drawings, models, revise and initiate formats for parts, assemblies, and installation engineering.
• Create new parts, drawings, BOMs, assemblies, simplified reps, shrink-wraps.
• Support team members with design knowledge.
• Complete layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices (ASME Y14.5).
• Prepare complete production detail drawings.
• Complete design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED

• Requires ability to obtain security clearance.
• Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.
• Must have 3+ years of recent and related work experience.
• Professional experience using a 3D CAD system (Creo, NX SolidWorks, etc.)
• Experience with machine tool design or tool modification.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

WORK LOCATION

• This position is located onsite; some travel may be required.
• Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED

• Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

• Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.

• Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
• Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
