Job summary

Bastion Technologies, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the space program at Cape Canaveral, FL. You will work with MGSE engineers to design components for handling, lifting, test, assembly and transportation of mechanical and electrical parts, and produce engineering documentation and CAD models.

You will verify drawings, maintain CAD data, and contribute to cross-discipline product development with a focus on quality and manufacturability while adhering to ASME Y14.5 standards.

Qualifications

• Requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer information.
• Requires ability to obtain security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering and 3+ years of related work experience.
• Experience using a 3D CAD system (Creo, NX, SolidWorks, etc.).
• Experience with machine tool design or tool modification.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Responsibilities

• Use CREO to develop plans, drawings, models, and assembly layouts.
• Create new parts, drawings, BOMs, assemblies, and shrink-wraps.
• Support team members with design knowledge.
• Prepare production detail drawings per ASME Y14.5.
• Modify designs to improve quality or manufacturability.

Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer will support the space program located in Cape Canaveral, FL. Engineers & Designers will work closely with MGSE engineers to provide components or portions of system designs to include handling, lifting, test, assembly and transportation of mechanical, and electrical components. The selected candidates will be responsible for engineering documentation, drawing/Computer Aided Design (CAD) maintenance and verification, and support of cross-discipline product development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use CREO to develop plans, drawings, models, revise and initiate formats for parts, assemblies, and installation engineering.
• Create new parts, drawings, BOMs, assemblies, simplified reps, shrink-wraps.
• Support team members with design knowledge.
• Complete layout drawings prepared by others in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices (ASME Y14.5).
• Prepare complete production detail drawings.
• Complete design modifications to improve quality of product or facilitate manufacturing operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

WORK LOCATION:

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

• Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

• Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
• Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
• Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
