Job summary

Siemens Energy seeks a Combustion Lead to drive design and development of low-emission gas turbine combustion systems. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team, influence global engineering efforts, and coordinate with stakeholders from manufacturing, NPD, procurement, and program management.

You will advance decarbonization goals by delivering innovative hardware and leading technical programs, while ensuring alignment with PDP and project milestones across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years of combustion design experience leading R&D initiatives involving product development, analysis, testing and manufacturing.
  • Experience with STAR-CCM+, COMSOL and any heat transfer tools.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills with a proactive, structured, and customer‑focused mindset.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for project work, shop support, and global collaboration.
  • Experience with SAP, Teamcenter, and basic programming or data analysis (Python, Excel VBA, SQL) is a plus.

  • Develop the technical Product Design Specification / Project Description (PDS/PB) based on the PRS.
  • Report project status to Engineering Management and escalate critical issues in a timely manner (technical, commercial, quality, or schedule-related).
  • Represent Engineering in both internal and external customer communications, including reports and meetings.
  • Serve as the technical project lead and primary engineering contact for development programs, with responsibility for team disciplines, milestones, and budgets.
  • Developing next-generation combustion hardware that supports Siemens Energy’s decarbonization goals while adhering to the Product Development Process (PDP).

As the Combustion Lead, you’ll be at the forefront of advancing Siemens Energy’s next generation of low-emission, high-performance gas turbine technology. In this highly visible role, you’ll drive the design and development of innovative combustion systems and components, partnering with global engineering teams to push the boundaries of fuel flexibility, emissions reduction, efficiency, and decarbonization. Every day, you'll influence the future of energy by transforming complex technical challenges into breakthrough solutions.

Leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers, you’ll coordinate the development of critical combustion components while collaborating closely with stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, new product development, procurement, and frame program management. Beyond delivering successful combustion programs, you’ll champion initiatives that extend component life, improve reliability, reduce costs, and accelerate the adoption of digital technologies through advanced engineering methods and cross-functional leadership. How You’ll Make an Impact

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years of combustion design experience leading R&D initiatives involving product development, analysis, testing and manufacturing. Experience with one of the skills in numerical tools such as STARCCM+, COMSOL and any heat transfer tools is intended. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills with a proactive, structured, and customer‑focused mindset.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for project work, shop support, and global collaboration.
  • Experience with SAP, Teamcenter, and basic programming or data analysis (Python, Excel VBA, SQL) is a plus.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
