Mechanical Design Engineer (Finance)

Job Overview

We are seeking a talented Mechanical or Chemical Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Burr Ridge, IL. You will lead the design process for food freezing equipment, including mining requirements, developing specifications, CAD and drawing creation, bill of material, and vendor interactions. Collaborate with R&D, Application Engineers, and Business Development Managers to support products that meet customer needs. Additional duties include:

1. Safety-minded approach with risk identification and mitigation processes (PHA, DFMEA, etc.).
2. Work with manufacturing teams to launch new products and resolve design or performance challenges.
3. Make independent product and technical decisions considering viability, cost, and benefits.
4. Design equipment for installation and operation at customer facilities, working with project teams.
5. Learn and improve our product lines and performance.
6. Assist in resolving technical and quality issues with team members.
7. Meet with customers to discuss growth opportunities and product improvements.
8. Travel up to 25%, potentially more during onboarding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering (Master's preferred).
• Experience with 3D modeling (AutoCAD Inventor) and creating 2D drawings.
• Strong machine design skills, including subsystems like power transmission, conveyors, PLCs, airflow, and thermodynamics.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for food processing equipment.
• Willingness to work at production facilities.
• Understanding of control system design (Allen Bradley RS Logix 500, PanelView Plus); sensor familiarity a plus.
• Ability to lead cross-disciplinary programs and manage multiple projects.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Previous managerial experience is a plus.
