We are seeking talented individuals to join our growing team! Convergix Automation Solutions leverages existing strengths and new talent to be a trusted partner in industrial automation.

What would a typical day be like?

As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will:

• Create and develop design solutions for high-speed automated life science machinery projects
• Produce technical documentation, including GAMP 5 design and validation documents
• Support the Application Engineering team with drawings, concepts, and budgets for quotations
• Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and team members
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to meet performance, reliability, and cost goals
• Perform engineering calculations for functionality, component sizing, and failure modes
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop concepts and 3D designs
• Ensure designs meet safety, ergonomics, and compliance standards
• Lead design reviews and collaborate with supply chain vendors
• Produce detailed drawings, schematics, Bills of Materials, and documentation
• Review designs from other engineers for feasibility and standards compliance
• Mentor and develop Mechanical Designers
• Communicate project status and issues with project teams and managers
• Support manufacturing and troubleshooting during build stages
• Contribute to group improvements and promote company values

What Qualifies you for this opportunity?

• 10+ years experience in Mechanical Design
• Post-secondary degree/diploma in mechanical, electrical, or controls technology
• Strong concept design skills in life science assembly systems
• Experience with complex mechanisms, robotics, and high-speed systems
• Knowledge of transport systems, material selection, and tolerances
• Proficiency with 3D CAD (Inventor, SolidWorks), AutoCAD, and PDM systems
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and ensure compliance with standards (ISO, ANSI, OSHA, etc.)
• Experience with GAMP 5 and validation processes
• Excellent communication skills and ability to travel within US, Canada, and the UK

Physical Demands:

• Regularly stand, walk, sit, and use hands for various tasks
• Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
