Job summary

JMJ PHILLIP is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Burbank, CA to develop innovative mechanical designs and support product development from concept through production.

You will create 3D models, drawings, and BOMs, refine designs for manufacturability, and collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and procurement to ensure successful product launches.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with mechanical design in manufacturing/product development.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop innovative mechanical designs, support product development, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions. This role is ideal for an engineering professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, designing reliable products, and contributing to projects from concept through production.

Position Responsibilities
Mechanical Design
  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems that meet performance, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Review and refine designs to improve manufacturability, reliability, and performance.
Product Development
  • Support projects throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to production.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure successful product launches.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into final designs.
Engineering Analysis
  • Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design evaluations.
  • Assist in testing, validation, and troubleshooting to verify product performance.
  • Recommend design improvements based on testing results and customer feedback.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, quality, and project management teams to support project execution.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors regarding technical specifications and component requirements.
  • Provide technical support during production and implementation.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, and design documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, customer requirements, and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records throughout the project lifecycle.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve product designs, manufacturing processes, and engineering efficiency.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and performance.
  • Stay informed on new technologies, materials, and engineering best practices.
Prerequisites
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or equivalent CAD certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Certification.
  • Additional engineering or product development certifications.
