Job description

Mechanical Engineering Coordinator/EIT – HDR Building Engineering Services Business Group, Northern California. This role involves supporting mechanical HVAC and plumbing design tasks across multiple market sectors, working independently on small projects and assisting senior engineers on larger projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform routine HVAC/mechanical and plumbing engineering assignments using standard techniques and procedures.
• Work independently on small HVAC/mechanical and plumbing design projects or assist senior engineers on larger projects through schematic design development and contract document phase.
• Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule.
• Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations.
• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications.
• Work with HVAC and plumbing vendors to select equipment, systems, and devices.
• Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
• Review mechanical and plumbing documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
• Coordinate with affected disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and incorporate agreed‑upon changes into project documents.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Experience in sustainable design/LEED desired, but not required.
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
• Recent graduates will be considered.
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Trane Trace3D, or similar software.
• Project Management experience is a plus.
• Experience using IESVE Calculation Software.
• Construction administration experience is a plus.
• Preference given to local candidates.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software).
