Job summary

Diamond Peak Recruiting is seeking a Project Engineer – Mechanical Construction in the Irvine area to support HVAC, piping, and plumbing construction projects. The ideal candidate has a Mechanical Engineering degree and at least two years of related experience.

The role involves coordination with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams, handling submittals, procurement, and schedule management throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 2+ years of experience supporting mechanical construction projects.
• Exposure to HVAC, piping, and/or plumbing systems in a construction environment.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with construction management software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in the execution of mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and field teams to ensure project milestones are met.
• Assist with procurement of equipment and materials for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
• Track project schedules and help ensure deliverables are completed on time.
• Maintain organized project files, logs, and reports.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support project closeout activities including punch lists, documentation, and turnover packages.

Position Overview

A leading mechanical contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support the successful execution of HVAC, piping, and plumbing construction projects in the Irvine area. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with a Mechanical Engineering degree and at least one year of experience supporting mechanical construction projects.

The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to assist with project coordination, documentation, procurement, and schedule management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in the execution of mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
