Job summary

Decima International is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Technician to support third-party commissioning of mechanical systems on data center projects. The role is hybrid, with on-site and travel expectations, reporting to a Commissioning Engineer.

You will document field inspections, perform tests, and ensure equipment operates as designed. The ideal candidate has hands-on commissioning experience, strong documentation skills, and ability to work safely with contractors and equipment vendors.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commissioning experience on mechanical systems.
• 2 to 3 years of experience on data center projects.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and P&IDs.
• Experience using test instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermal imagers, and data loggers.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and field documentation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect delivered and installed mechanical equipment against drawings and submittals.
• Perform and witness pre-functional and static checks (alignment, valve positions, piping flushing, pressure testing).
• Support equipment start-up and Level 4 functional testing; record readings and results.
• Support Integrated Systems Testing, including load testing and shift coverage.
• Document deficiencies with photos and descriptions; track corrective actions to closure with contractors.
• Complete checklists, test scripts, and daily reports in the commissioning platform.
• Follow site safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and permit requirements.
