Job summary

Decima International is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Technician to support independent commissioning of mechanical systems on data center projects across the United States. You will work under a Commissioning Engineer, performing inspections, tests, and documentation to verify proper installation and operation.

The ideal candidate has hands-on commissioning experience, strong documentation skills, and the ability to work safely with contractors and vendors.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commissioning experience on mechanical systems.
• 2–3 years of data center project experience.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and P&IDs.
• Experience with flow meters, pressure gauges, thermal imagers, and data loggers.
• Clear written and verbal communication; field documentation.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 or ability to obtain it.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willing to travel 50–75% and lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect delivered and installed mechanical equipment against drawings and submittals.
• Perform pre-functional and static checks, including alignment, valve positions, piping flushing, pressure testing, and sensor verification.
• Support equipment start-up and Level 4 functional testing; record readings and results.
• Support Integrated Systems Testing, including failure scenarios and load testing.
• Document deficiencies with photographs and clear descriptions; track corrective actions through closure with contractors.
• Complete checklists, test scripts, and daily reports in the commissioning platform.
• Follow site safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and applicable permit requirements.
• Maintain independent reporting in accordance with Decima’s policies.
