Job summary

Shamrock Business Consulting seeks a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer for a data center project in Reno, NV. You will own the commissioning of cooling and mechanical systems, from planning to turnover, ensuring performance and safety on site.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in commissioning with a mechanical focus and experience with chillers, AHUs, pumps, and piping. Hyperscale data centers and CxAlloy/BIM 360 familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

Our client is a national leader in NETA testing, commissioning, and staff augmentation for the mission-critical industry.

They need a strong Mechanical Commissioning Engineer for a data center project in Reno, NV. You'll own the commissioning of the cooling and mechanical systems that keep the site running. If you have a solid mechanical Cx background and like a fast pace, this one's for you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Commissioning Execution: Plan, run, and oversee commissioning of mechanical systems to project specs and industry standards.
• Testing & Validation: Test, troubleshoot, and validate mechanical equipment: chillers, CRAHs/CRACs, AHUs, pumps, cooling towers, and piping systems.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, checklists, FPTs, and schedules.
• Coordination: Work with project managers, engineers, and contractors to hit milestones and deadlines.
• Turnover: Make sure every system is fully operational and meets performance requirements before handover.
• Safety: Follow safety protocols and set the tone for a strong safety culture on site.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years as a Commissioning Engineer with a mechanical focus.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, hydronic piping, and industrial cooling equipment.
• Proven ability to run the commissioning process from planning through completion.
• Familiarity with industry standards (ASHRAE, ASME, ANSI).
• Sharp problem-solver who stays steady under tight deadlines.
• Clear communicator who works well with owners, GCs, and trade partners.

PREFERRED

• Hyperscale data center construction experience.
• Commissioning software experience (CxAlloy, BIM 360, or similar).
• Knowledge of BMS/controls integration with mechanical equipment.
