About JWC Machine and FabBased in Mobile, AL, JWC Machine and Fab is a CNC precision machining shop known for tight-tolerance work across a wide range of materials and complexities. From repeat production to large-format and specialized builds, our team of skilled machinists brings craftsmanship to every part. We’re growing deliberately—every hire moves the needle.A Day in the LifeYou arrive to new customer prints and models in the queue. Your morning is spent translating specifications into clear, build-ready 2D drawings and 3D models—locking in GD&T, tolerances, materials, and finishes so our machinists can hit the mark the first time. Before lunch, you review an incoming drawing for manufacturability, flagging a datum scheme that could complicate fixturing. You collaborate with a supervisor on the shop floor to resolve a callout question, update the revision, and push controlled documentation to the library. In the afternoon, you support a quote by breaking down critical dimensions and features. You close the day by drafting work instructions and updating the traveler for a new job release.Core ResponsibilitiesCreate and revise 2D drawings and/or 3D models from customer specs, sketches, or verbal inputsApply correct GD&T, dimensional tolerances, material specs, and surface finish requirementsReview customer drawings for manufacturability and raise issues before productionMaintain organized drawing libraries with strict revision control per shop standardsPartner with machinists and supervisors to clarify intent and resolve questions on the floorContribute to quoting via accurate interpretation and dimensional analysisDevelop process documentation, work instructions, and job travelers as neededWhat You BringFluency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or similarStrong command of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and print interpretationExperience drafting machined components; exposure to castings and weldments is a plusPractical understanding of manufacturing processes—how parts are actually madeAssociate’s or Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field preferred; equivalent experience consideredExceptional organization and attention to detail; able to manage multiple drawing packagesClear communicator who’s comfortable interfacing with machinists and customersCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive pay — based on experience and qualifications401(k) with 4% company matchHealth insurance — 100% company paidAnnual performance bonusRelocation assistance available for the right candidate*JWC Machine and Fab is an equal opportunity employer.
