Job summary

Colossus Search Group represents a manufacturing client in Phoenix, AZ, seeking a CAD Designer/Engineer to support concept development, documentation, and manufacturing design. The role involves creating concept models for RFQs, managing part numbers, revision control, and delivering manufacturing drawings and BOMs in an ERP environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field.
• 2-10 years of experience using SolidWorks.
• Experience with basic solid part modeling and assembly modeling techniques, including sheet metal design, weldments, and basic 3-axis machining considerations
• Ability to create clear and accurate manufacturing drawings for production.
• Exposure to revision control and configuration management practices.
• Exposure to ASME Y14.5 (GD&T fundamentals).
• Understanding of part, sub‑assembly, and top-level assembly structuring in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to learn welding symbols and fabrication callouts.
• Ability to learn new tools including rendering and vector design software.
• Strong ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D concept models to support RFQ opportunities and early-stage product evaluation.
• Generate and maintain part numbers and product documentation within the company’s design and ERP systems.
• Manage revision control and configuration updates for parts, assemblies, and drawings.
• Create manufacturing-ready drawings for production, including part, sub‑assembly, and top‑ level assembly drawings.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP environment.
• Produce high-quality product renderings for channel products using KeyShot.
• Create logos and graphical elements for laser marking and decals using Adobe Illustrator.
• Support engineering and manufacturing teams by ensuring drawings clearly communicate design intent and manufacturing requirements.
• Maintain organized digital records of CAD models, drawings, revisions, and product documentation.
• Assist in updating legacy drawings and product documentation when required.

Our manufacturing client specializes in prefabricated solutions, material handling equipment, and metal fabrication for the electrical and construction industries | Phoenix, AZ 85034 | Onsite

Work Schedule: 5:30am-3:00pm Monday-Friday with every other Friday off work

Our client is seeking a detail‑oriented CAD Designer / Engineer to support concept development, product documentation, and manufacturing design activities. This role will assist in developing concept models for RFQ (Request for Quote) opportunities, generating and managing part numbers, maintaining revision control, producing detailed design and manufacturing drawings for both custom and channel products, and creating Bills of Materials (BOM’s) in an ERP environment. The position will also support product marketing and documentation efforts by creating product renderings and assisting with graphical assets such as logos for laser engraving and decals. This role works closely with engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are accurately documented and manufacturable.
