Job summary

Leidos Defense Sector seeks a Mechanical Cable Designer in Huntsville, AL to design electrical power and signal cables and the supporting hardware. You will use 2D/3D CAD and Windchill PLM, connect, route, and secure assemblies, and collaborate with senior designers to ensure correctness and manufacturability.

Ideal candidates have a Mechanical or Aerospace background, strong CAD skills, and knowledge of military/civil standards. US citizenship and eligibility for a secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or 6+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Proficient in CAD software and able to learn new tools and techniques.
• Familiar with government and industry standards.
• Ability to work onsite at a Leidos facility and independently with limited supervision.
• Basic understanding of cable design needs, routing considerations, and mechanical design principles.
• Flexible and capable of switching between tasks and toolsets.
• Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
• US Citizenship is required.
• Position requires eligibility to obtain and maintain secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design the electrical power and signal cables, along with the hardware that connects, routes, and secures them.
• Use 2D and 3D CAD software and Windchill PLM to bring components to life.
• Maintain working knowledge of government and industry connectors and cable parts, with guidance from senior designers.
