Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Mechanical/Cable Designer to connect advanced hardware with robust cable assemblies. The role requires proficiency in Creo or SolidWorks, GD&T understanding, and hands-on experience with cable design.

Responsibilities include creating detailed drawings, BOMs, and TDP artifacts, plus supporting prototype fabrication, testing, and design reviews. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in Creo Parametric or SolidWorks; experience in both preferred.
• 2D drawing experience using SolidWorks or Creo.
• Ability to work onsite at a Leidos facility with limited supervision.
• US Citizenship required and eligible for security clearance.
• Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville - North Alabama area.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies.
• Create and maintain Technical Data Package artifacts including drawings and BOMs.
• Develop mechanical designs with manufacturability, assembly, inspection and producibility in mind.
• Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and drawing standards.
• Assist prototype fabrication, assembly, integration and testing; troubleshoot issues with senior engineers.
• Route electrical cables/wire harnesses using Creo and SolidWorks.
• Develop cable designs using Visio and AutoCAD; select connectors and backshells.
• Produce cable installation drawings and work instructions from 3D routed models in Creo/SolidWorks.
• Independently manage tasks and projects with guidance from senior engineers.
• Participate in design reviews and technical meetings throughout product lifecycle.
