Job summary

SWM International is seeking a Mechanical & Automation Engineer to support the reliability, maintenance, and automation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems in our New York facility. You will collaborate with the Maintenance Manager, Millwrights, Electricians, and Operations to keep plant equipment running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in maintenance, engineering, automation, or related manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery, and processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Experience with equipment installations, upgrades, and capital projects.
• Excellent communication, organization, and project management.
• Team-oriented in a manufacturing environment.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support daily maintenance operations and equipment reliability initiatives.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and improve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with Operations to minimize disruptions.
• Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot automation, controls, instrumentation, and process issues.
• Support PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and other control systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
• Design and implement equipment modifications and process improvements.
• Assist with engineering and capital projects: installations, upgrades, start-ups, commissioning.
• Maintain electrical schematics, control drawings, and documentation.
• Analyze performance data to identify efficiency and cost-reduction opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulations.
• Participate in Lean and reliability-centered maintenance initiatives.
• Provide training and technical support for maintenance and operations staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
