Job summary

SWM International is seeking a Mechanical & Automation Engineer to support the reliability, maintenance, and automation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems in New York. You will work with the Maintenance Manager, Millwrights, and Operations to keep plant equipment safe and efficient.

The role combines mechanical engineering with controls and automation to reduce downtime and drive continuous improvement across the facility.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in maintenance, engineering, automation, or related manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, industrial machinery, and processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Experience with equipment installations, upgrades, and capital projects.
• Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Maintenance to support daily maintenance operations and equipment reliability initiatives.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and improve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems with Millwrights and Electricians.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with Operations to minimize disruptions and support goals.
• Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve reliability.
• Troubleshoot automation, controls, instrumentation, and process-related issues.
• Support PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and other control systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
• Design and implement equipment modifications and process improvements for safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.
• Assist with engineering projects, installations, upgrades, startups, and commissioning.
