Job summary

Laitram Machinery, Inc. is seeking an Entry Level Fabricator to support sheet metal fabrication efforts. This role involves following schedules, operating an extruder, and assisting with roller components and assembly.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, basic hand-tool skills, and the ability to read blueprints. Overtime and light travel are possible as part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work from manufacturing schedule and operate extruder to meet daily targets.
• Unload rollers from trucks, move with forklift, and prime/paint roller pipe assemblies.
• Assemble components into roller assemblies and cross-train on related operations.
• Maintain inventory and complete transactions in manufacturing software with accuracy.
• Keep work area clean and perform tasks at the facility as required.

Laitram Machinery, Inc. has a position available for an Entry Level Fabricator. This individual will be responsible for helping in all areas related to sheet metal fabricating.

Responsibilities:

• Work from manufacturing schedule
• Operate the extruder to meet daily work schedule
• Unload used rollers from trucks, crates
• Move rollers/crates using fork-truck
• Clean rollers with soda-blasterOperate rubber stripping equipment
• Operate roller sanding equipment
• QC check on roller gears, replace out of spec gears
• Prime and paint roller pipe assemblies
• Assemble components into new roller pipe assemblies
• Cross-train – learn to perform other roller operations: extruder, grinding, polishing, finishing.
• Assist with cycle counts; maintain inventory counts of used roller cores
• Complete transactions in mfg software with minimal errors (clock-in/out, job on/off, charge material from inventory, receipt material to inventory, scrap material move material from one location to another, etc.)
• Keep machines/work area clean
• It is essential that this position is performed at the facility.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Be able to identify and use basic hand tools
• Capable of reading blueprints
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Capable of becoming proficient operating a fork-truck
• Capable of learning to operating roller fab equipment – sanding equipment soda blaster, stripping machines
• Able to work overtime
• Light domestic travel as required, 1 to 2 weeks pre year.
• Must be able to meet the functional requirements of the job including the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend/lean over and lift 50 pounds

Desired Qualifications:

• Manufacturing experience
• Experience in some trade – mechanic, fabrication work, carpentry, machine tools, etc.
• Advanced education/training – vocational training, college courses, etc.
• Experience in the seafood or shrimp industry
• Multiple technical skills – welding, mill/lathe operation, sheet metal, carpentry, auto mechanic, etc.
• Experience with computer software (MS Office, manufacturing software, etc.)
