Aerotek in Woodstock, IL is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to build industrial sweeping machines. You will follow detailed instructions to assemble hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical subassemblies across four stations, installing engines, brakes, radiators, and electrical harnesses. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork in a climate-controlled facility.
The position operates first shift, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with 3–5 hours of overtime typically weekly.
The Mechanical Assembler builds industrial sweeping machines by following detailed work instructions and using a variety of hand and power tools. This role focuses on assembling hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical subcomponents at multiple assembly stations, contributing to the complete build of each machine from initial mechanical installation through final assembly.
Use written work instructions to assemble industrial sweeping machines accurately and efficiently.
Perform mechanical assembly of hydraulic, electrical, and subassembly parts using hand and power tools.
Operate tools such as screw guns, sockets, wrenches, and other power tools to install components.
Work across four different assembly stations that increase in complexity, each requiring approximately 4-5 hours of labor.
Install brakes, tires, engines, lift arms, radiators, hoses, harnesses, and various subassemblies as part of the build process.
Electrify the machine by installing and connecting electrical harnesses and related components.
Complete final assembly by installing sheet metal panels and the hopper onto the machine.
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the assembly process.
Collaborate with team members to ensure quality standards are met and production goals are achieved.
Inspect completed work for proper fit, function, and adherence to specifications before moving units to the next station.
Mechanical assembly experience with hydraulic, electrical, and heavy assembly components.
Proficiency using hand and power tools, including screw guns, sockets, wrenches, and other common mechanic tools.
Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how parts fit and function together.
Basic knowledge of nuts, bolts, fasteners, and standard mechanical hardware.
Ability to follow detailed work instructions and assembly procedures accurately.
Capability to perform heavy assembly tasks that may involve handling larger components.
Experience in mechanical work such as mechanic roles, engine repair, or similar hands-on technical experience.
Experience in mechanic roles, including engine repair or military mechanical work, is highly beneficial.
Training from trade schools or technical programs focused on mechanics or manufacturing is a plus.
Experience in manufacturing or production environments, particularly assembly operations, is advantageous.
Mechanical hobbies or hands-on projects that demonstrate mechanical aptitude are valued.
Comfort working at multiple assembly stations that vary in complexity and tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodstock, IL.
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
