Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions in Santa Clara, CA seeks a Mechanical Application Development Engineer to design and develop high-speed custom cable assemblies for customer systems, coordinating with customers and ODMs to ensure optimal architecture. You will lead custom configurations, validate mockups, provide on-site support, deliver engineering drawings, and present technical training.

Travel to customer sites and ODMs is required, with several weeks per quarter.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to discuss technical concepts.
• Experience with mechanical design and engineering documentation.
• Ability to deliver compelling technical presentations.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers to select cable solutions and provide technical guidance.
• Design custom cable configurations and document with engineering drawings.
• Develop and validate mockup systems to demonstrate architecture.
• Help customers architect compute trays and design cable management.
• Provide onsite support at customer/ODM locations and deliver training.
• Stay current with developments in connector and interconnect industries.
