Principal Objective of Position:The Mechanic Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the maintenance shop, including supervising and directing the work of Mechanics, while also conducting machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance services as needed.Essential Functions:The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.Maintain preventative maintenance schedules on all Company vehiclesEvaluate equipment and determine whether to repair in-house or send it to an outside vendor for repairPerform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system maintenance/repair on diesel and conventional engine and vehicular systemsTroubleshoot and determine necessary repairsAssess repairs needed and determine who will perform the repairsDisassemble, inspect, repair and/or replace componentsReassemble systems to specified tolerancesPerform scheduled A, B, & D preventative maintenance schedulesInspect vehicles for safetyPerform “demand” type maintenance as neededPerform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, suspensions, drive-train components, electrical, air conditioning, air brakes, computer diagnostics and basic weldingSupervise, schedule, and assign daily work tasks to Mechanics to ensure timely, safe, and quality completion of repairs and preventive maintenanceTrain, mentor, and coach Mechanics on proper repair procedures, diagnostic techniques, safety protocols, and company policiesMonitor and enforce compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations and Company policies within the shopReview and approve Mechanics' timecards and work recordsConduct performance evaluations and provide input on hiring, disciplinary actions, and other personnel decisions for MechanicsOther Responsibilities:Ensure all road vehicles meet DOT specificationsMonitor fleet equipment to ensure they are updated regarding license plates, registrations, and DOT inspectionsPurchase supplies and parts for equipment repairs and shop useOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Must be flexible and willing to adaptMust display the ability to problem solveCan work independently and in a team environmentSelf-motivated and takes responsibility for own work; can manage interruptionsExcellent oral and written communication skills requiredDemonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to supervise, train, and motivate a team of MechanicsPreferred Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent, preferredPrior experience as a Mechanic, with at least 1-2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity, preferred
