Job summary

Knife River Corporation is seeking a Diesel/Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician at our Parkston and Freeman locations in South Dakota. You will perform maintenance and repairs on diesel/heavy equipment, learning basic mechanical skills while working with a team to keep equipment safe and functional.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy in inspections, and the ability to read manuals. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
• Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime or weekends.
• CDL is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment.

• Use tools safely (training provided).

ROLE OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on various types of diesel/heavy equipment to keep them in safe working condition. Will need to display a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members.

This role helps maintain and repair heavy equipment and trucks to keep them safe and working properly. You’ll work with a team to learn basic mechanical skills and assist with repairs.

The typical schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED
• Some post-secondary education in the diesel technician field or related experience a plus.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions
• Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one)
