Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Truck Shop Mechanic to perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers while upholding Tyson’s safety culture. The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, using basic electrical and pneumatic tools, and completing tasks per supervisor instructions.

Applicants should have 6 months of prior operator experience and 3–5 years in an industrial setting, with a high school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Three to five years related experience with at least three years in an industrial setting/relevant work experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational diploma preferred, or combination of experience and education in lieu of a diploma.

• Perform required maintenance tasks including PMs, oil changes, greasing, tire work, brakes, and possible air brake/electrical work.

Description

This position is responsible for maintenance and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Tasks

• Applicants will be considered for any Truck Shop Mechanic opening.
• This position requires a current valid State driver’s license.
• Must supply own tools for minimum maintenance.
• Must be able to use basic electrical, pneumatic and hand tools.
• Minimum 1 year basic mechanical or maintenance skills including PM on equipment, oil changes, greasing, repairing or replacing semi tires, brake repair or replacement on semi trucks and trailers, and minimum 1 year experience operating cutting torch and electric welder.
• May perform air brake, electrical and air conditioning work.
• Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders up to 20 feet, bend, stretch, reach, work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors.
• Must be able to read and understand assignments.
• Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Must have six (6) months operator experience with one employer in the previous 12 - months.

A High School Diploma or equivalent to include Technical or Vocational Diploma preferred, or combination of equivalent experience and education in a related field in lieu of a Dipolma.

Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.

Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Tyson Foods.
