Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services seeks an experienced Mechanic III SR at our Odessa facility to disassemble, rebuild, test, and finish complex equipment. You will read engineering prints, set up test operations, troubleshoot, and ensure work meets spec. The role demands physical stamina, overtime availability, and precise documentation.

You will join a skilled team that emphasizes safety, reliability, and hands-on craftsmanship in servicing a global installed base of engines and compressors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5 years of experience in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly or heavy equipment repair.
• Able to interpret drawings, prints, and engineering specifications.
• Physically capable of demanding tasks and lifting.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Valid driver's license and strong safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex equipment.
• Use a wide range of mechanical tools to complete tasks.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specs to guide work.
• Set up and run tests per specifications and perform minor maintenance.
• Ensure safety and containerized housekeeping, document work accurately.

As a Mechanic III SR at our Odessa facility, you'll disassemble, rebuild, test, and finish moderate to highly complex equipment — work that demands real skill and rewards it in kind.

This role is built for an experienced mechanic who reads engineering prints with confidence, sets up and runs tests to spec, and takes pride in handing off equipment that's ready to perform.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Disassemble, position, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex equipment
• Use a wide range of mechanical tools and equipment to complete assembly, disassembly, and testing tasks
• Interpret drawings, prints, and engineering specifications to guide your work
• Set up and run test operations in line with engineering specifications
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical equipment
• Conduct risk assessments before operations and material movements, and follow all EHS policies
• Keep your work area safe, clean, and organized
• Identify and report problems or hazardous conditions during equipment operations
• Complete required documentation and business training accurately and on time

WHO YOU ARE

• High school diploma or GED
• 5 years of experience in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair and maintenance
• Able to interpret drawings, prints, and engineering specifications
• Physically capable of pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and other physical demands of the role
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Valid driver's license
• Solid grasp of safety regulations and good housekeeping practices
• Basic math skills and the ability to read schematics
• Mechanically minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently to engineering specs
• A strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 years of experience in operations or service center applications
• Strong knowledge of natural gas engine and compressor equipment
