Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services LLC in Houston seeks a Mechanic II to disassemble, inspect, repair, and test natural gas engine and compressor components. You’ll read prints, use micrometers and dial indicators, and perform precision machining in a shop environment.

As a hands-on team member, you’ll follow engineering specs, document activities, and uphold EHS standards. A high school diploma and 2 years of relevant experience are required; overtime and weekend work may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of experience in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
• Ability to read drawings, prints, and engineering specifications.
• Physically capable of pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and other physical demands.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Valid driver's license.
• Solid grasp of safety regulations and good housekeeping practices.
• Basic math skills and the ability to read schematics.
• Mechanically minded, detail-oriented, and able to work independently to engineering specs.
• Strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, position, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex equipment.
• Clean, inspect, and repair natural gas engine and compressor components in a shop environment.
• Use manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools for fitting, adjusting, and securing components.
• Read detailed prints, and use micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators to verify precision work.
• Set up and run test operations in line with engineering specifications.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Conduct risk assessments before operations and material movements, and follow all EHS policies.
• Keep your work area safe, clean, and organized.
• Identify and report problems or hazardous conditions during equipment operations.
• Complete required documentation and business training accurately and on time.

Every one of those units starts on a shop floor like ours, in the hands of mechanics who know that precision isn't optional. As a Mechanic II at our Houston Machine Shop, you'll clean, inspect, and repair natural gas engine and compressor components — disassembling, reassembling, testing, and finishing moderate to highly complex equipment with the precision the job demands.

This role is a great fit for a mechanic who's comfortable with manual, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools, reads a detailed print without a second thought, and knows their way around a micrometer, dial caliper, and dial indicator.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Disassemble, position, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex equipment
