Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services in Deer Park seeks a seasoned Mechanic IV to disassemble, rebuild, test and finish some of the most complex equipment in the industry, following engineering prints and specifications.

You will work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed, bring 8 years of relevant experience and a high school diploma, and contribute to safe, accurate documentation and quality handoffs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 8 years of experience in mechanical test/assembly/disassembly or heavy equipment repair/maintenance.
• Able to interpret drawings, prints, and engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, position, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex equipment.
• Use a wide range of mechanical tools and equipment to complete tasks.
• Interpret drawings, prints, and engineering specs to guide work.
• Set up and run test operations in line with specifications.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Conduct risk assessments before operations and movements; follow EHS policies.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Identify/report problems or hazards during operations.
• Complete required documentation and training on time.

As a Mechanic IV at our Deer Park facility, you'll disassemble, rebuild, test, and finish some of the most complex equipment in the industry — work that demands real expertise and rewards it in kind.

This role is built for a seasoned mechanic who reads a set of engineering prints like a second language, sets up and runs tests with confidence, and takes pride in handing off equipment that's ready to perform.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Disassemble, position, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex equipment
• Use a wide range of mechanical tools and equipment to complete assembly, disassembly, and testing tasks
• Interpret drawings, prints, and engineering specifications to guide your work
• Set up and run test operations in line with engineering specifications
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on mechanical equipment
• Conduct risk assessments before operations and material movements, and follow all EHS policies
• Keep your work area safe, clean, and organized
• Identify and report problems or hazardous conditions during equipment operations
• Complete required documentation and business training accurately and on time

WHO YOU ARE

• High school diploma or GED
• 8 years of experience in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair and maintenance
• Able to interpret drawings, prints, and engineering specifications
• Physically capable of pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and other physical demands of the role
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Valid driver's license
• Solid grasp of safety regulations and good housekeeping practices
• Basic math skills and the ability to read schematics
• Mechanically minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently to engineering specs
• A strong team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 8 years of experience in operations or service center applications
• Strong knowledge of natural gas engine and compressor equipment
