Job summary

Sibelco in Midlothian is seeking a Mechanic II to lead maintenance teams and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across plant facilities. You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues and coordinate with external vendors when needed.

Qualifications

• Technical expertise: Knowledge of building systems, machinery, and maintenance procedures.
• Leadership and communication: Ability to supervise teams, delegate tasks, and communicate effectively.
• Problem-solving and organizational skills: Diagnose issues quickly, prioritize tasks, implement solutions.
• Education and experience: Vocational certificates, trade certifications, or degrees in facility management or engineering; prior roles preferred.
• Software proficiency: Familiarity with SAP or similar maintenance management software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead maintenance staff: Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training to Maintenance Technicians and other team members to ensure high-quality work and adherence to safety standards.
• Plan and coordinate maintenance activities: Develop preventive and corrective maintenance schedules, manage repairs, renovations, and installations, and ensure timely completion of all maintenance operations.
• Technical oversight: Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other technical issues, providing hands-on guidance when necessary.
• Safety and compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and regulatory standards, conducting regular inspections and audits.
• Administrative duties: Manage budgets, maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, prepare reports, and coordinate with contractors or external vendors for specialized tasks.
• Facility optimization: Monitor equipment performance, implement best practices, and develop strategies to minimize downtime and prolong asset life.

• Education and experience: While formal education is not always required, vocational certificates, trade certifications, or degrees in facility management or engineering are advantageous. Prior experience as a Maintenance Technician, Facilities Coordinator, or similar role is preferred.
• Software proficiency: Familiarity with SAP or similar maintenance management software and tools for scheduling, reporting, and inventory management.
