The Mechanic Helper will assist the Fleet Technician in making repairs and performing preventative maintenance inspections on Division vehicles and equipment.
A valid driver's license from the state of residence is required. Must obtain a valid Class A Commercial driver's license from the state of residence within the trial or probationary period after entering classification. Certification from a vocational school, technical institute, or automotive program is preferred.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Previous experience as a Mechanic Helper or a similar role is required.
Must successfully complete Physical Abilities Test and Placement/Performance Exercises. Physical Demands include working inside and outside of the shop, exposure to gasoline, oil, and solvents; standing for extended periods, climbing, noise, dust, and dirt; heavy lifting/carrying up to 100lbs. Knowledge of vehicle repair, excellent mechanical skills, ability to follow instructions, and use power and hand tools are essential. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to read service and repair manuals, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner are required.
