Job Summary
A mechanic assistant, also known as a mechanic helper, is an entry-level position. This role involves assisting experienced mechanics with a variety of tasks related to machinery and mobile equipment maintenance and repair.
Essential Functions
- Comply with Eco Material Technologies' safety policies and procedures.
- Assist experienced mechanics with inspecting machinery and mobile equipment to identify mechanical issues.
- Assist with performing routine maintenance tasks on machinery and mobile equipment.
- Assist with performing repairs on machinery and mobile equipment.
- Help keep the work area clean and organized, including sweeping floors, organizing tools and equipment, and disposing of waste materials.
- Learn from experienced technicians and gain valuable hands-on experience.
- May assist with other parts of the plant operation.
- Maintain regular attendance, timeliness, and flexibility in scheduling.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Basic mechanical knowledge and proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and adhere to safety standards.
- Ability to read and follow policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Ability to take direction from managers and experienced mechanics.
- Problem-solving skills, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interaction skills across organizational levels.
- Adaptability, willingness to learn, and teamwork orientation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other relevant systems.
Education And/Or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational or technical training certificate or associate's degree in a related field is a plus.
- 0-1 years of relevant experience.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to tolerate noise levels that may be uncomfortable.
- Exposure to temperature extremes indoors or outdoors.
- Prolonged standing or stationary positioning.
- Repetitive movements, bending, and twisting.
- Ability to lift/move items up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and various environmental conditions.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment.
