Job Summary

A mechanic assistant, also known as a mechanic helper, is an entry-level position. This role involves assisting experienced mechanics with a variety of tasks related to machinery and mobile equipment maintenance and repair.

Essential Functions

1. Comply with Eco Material Technologies' safety policies and procedures.
2. Assist experienced mechanics with inspecting machinery and mobile equipment to identify mechanical issues.
3. Assist with performing routine maintenance tasks on machinery and mobile equipment.
4. Assist with performing repairs on machinery and mobile equipment.
5. Help keep the work area clean and organized, including sweeping floors, organizing tools and equipment, and disposing of waste materials.
6. Learn from experienced technicians and gain valuable hands-on experience.
7. May assist with other parts of the plant operation.
8. Maintain regular attendance, timeliness, and flexibility in scheduling.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

1. Basic mechanical knowledge and proficiency with hand and power tools.
2. Ability to follow safety protocols and adhere to safety standards.
3. Ability to read and follow policies, procedures, and instructions.
4. Ability to take direction from managers and experienced mechanics.
5. Problem-solving skills, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
6. Effective communication and interaction skills across organizational levels.
7. Adaptability, willingness to learn, and teamwork orientation.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other relevant systems.

Education And/Or Experience

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Vocational or technical training certificate or associate's degree in a related field is a plus.
3. 0-1 years of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

1. Ability to tolerate noise levels that may be uncomfortable.
2. Exposure to temperature extremes indoors or outdoors.
3. Prolonged standing or stationary positioning.
4. Repetitive movements, bending, and twisting.
5. Ability to lift/move items up to 50 pounds.
6. Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and various environmental conditions.
7. Must wear required personal protective equipment.
