Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery is seeking a Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM start, with a wage range of $20.00–$33.00 per hour based on experience; overnight differential adds $2.00 per hour. A CDL Class A license is required or the candidate must be willing to complete our CDL training program.

Qualifications

• Must be able to diagnose and repair diesel engines and powertrain components.
• Experience with air brakes, steering and suspension systems, and electrical systems is preferred.
• CDL Class A or willingness to complete Company-paid CDL training is required or offered.

Responsibilities

• Use scan tool and laptop to diagnose fleet equipment.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Follow shift leader instructions and work with or without a team.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Possess or obtain own tools as needed.

Job Summary

The Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair diesel engines and other powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours and Wages

• Monday-Friday, 7:30AM Start
• $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience
  • +$2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight positions

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader
• Ability to work independently and/ or with team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment
• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn

Education and Experience

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR be willing to successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
