Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems in a busy fleet.

The role requires hands-on diagnostics, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work with a team or alone. The position offers an hourly wage of $20.00–$33.00, with a $2.00 shift differential for overnight shifts and overtime pay after 40

Qualifications

• Welding & torch experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Use scan tool and laptop technology.
• Follow shift leader instructions.
• Work independently and/or with a team.
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Must have own tools or obtain them to complete duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair diesel engines and other powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours and Wages

• Monday-Friday
• Start times: Monday-Thursday 9:00PM start, Friday 6:30PM start
• $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience
• +$2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight positions
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week

Duties And Responsibilities

• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader
• Ability to work independently and/ or with team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment
• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills And Abilities

• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn

Education And Experience

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR be willing to successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
