Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician to diagnose and repair diesel engines, powertrain, air brakes, steering, suspension, electrical, and diesel emission systems.

Shift options include 7:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 11:00 PM, Monday–Friday. Wages range from $20.00 to $33.00 per hour with $2.00 night differential and overtime pay after 40 hours. Must have own tools or obtain them; CDL is required or eligible for company training.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics preferred.
• CDL Class A license required or willing to complete company CDL training.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and pass DOT physical.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and powertrain components.
• Perform routine truck inspections and fleet maintenance.
• Use scan tools and laptop technology.
• Follow shift leader instructions and work independently or with a team.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Possess own tools or be willing to obtain own tools to complete duties.

Job Summary

The Mechanic/Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician will diagnose and repair diesel engines and other powertrain components, air brakes, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems.

Hours and Wages

• Available Shift Times:
  • Monday-Friday, 7:00AM start
  • Monday-Friday, 3:00PM start
  • Monday-Friday, 11:00PM start
• $20.00-$33.00 per hour, based on experience
  • +$2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight positions
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader
• Ability to work independently and/ or with team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment
• Help maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Must have own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Welding and torch experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn

Education and Experience

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR be willing to successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Work environment involves ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Work environment may involve hazards such as diesel exhaust, brake dust, grease, antifreeze, and other elements associated with vehicle repair
