Job summary

Tessera is seeking a Mechanic, Forklift at our Silverdale, WA location to diagnose, repair, and overhaul Material Handling Equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and aerial/scissor lifts. You will ensure equipment meets safety and performance standards and keep detailed maintenance records.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, at least 3 years of forklift operation experience, and a valid forklift license. Strong mechanical and safety mindset is required for this role.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma / GED required.
• Minimum 3 years of operating a Forklift.
• A Forklift License is required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in forklifts.
• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to pinpoint issues with forklifts.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Repair and maintain MHE including forklifts and pallet jacks (2,000–70,000 lb capacity).
• Dismantle and reassemble equipment to OEM specs and Navy standards.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

This position plays a vital role in maintaining operational readiness and ensuring all equipment meets safety and performance standards.

Typical duties

• Identifies and resolves mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in forklifts.
• Performs routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Using diagnostic tools and software to pinpoint and resolve issues with forklifts.
• Maintains accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used.
• Ensures all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Repairs and maintains the operating condition of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including forklifts pallet jacks ranging from 2,000 to 70,000 lb . capacity, aerial boom and scissor lifts
• Dismantles and reassembles equipment to OEM specifications and Navy standards, using various lifting equipment, hand and pneumatic tools.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
• Basic rigging procedures may be required .
• Examines equipment and parts for damage and wear using calibrated measuring tools.
• Repairs and replaces electric, diesel, propane or gasoline MHE and components such as air systems, cooling systems, starting and charging systems.
• Repairs vehicle chassis, electrical systems, drive trains, brake systems, and hydraulic systems.
• Repairs and rebuilds broken parts and structural members using welding and other fabrication techniques.
• Operates and inspects machines and equipment to diagnose component defects and performs repairs.
