Job summary

Utah Transit Authority offers a four-year apprenticeship in maintenance, with ongoing competency modules and hands-on work under supervision. The program includes wage progression starting at Apprentice level and moves to Journeyist after graduation.

Shift is 2:00 pm - 11:30 pm with Sunday/Monday off; benefits include health, dental, vision, life/AD&D, disability coverage and on-site medical clinics, plus PTO and holidays. Eligible employees may receive a $2,000 hiring incentive.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Have a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement or obtain one within 60 days.
Pass aptitude and standardized tests; tests paid by UTA.
Must have the required tools and a safe driving record (≤2 moving violations in 3 years).
No DUI or drug violations within last 10 years.
ONE of: 2-year degree, military MOS, 1 year tech school + 1 year related experience, or 6 months UTA experience.

Responsibilities

Participates in related technical instruction and classroom instruction.
Demonstrates competency in 10 modules including Preventative Maintenance, Electrical, Brakes, Air Systems, Air Suspension, Steering and Axles, HVAC/EAC, Wheelchairs, Transmissions and Engines.
Performs manual tasks under supervision and assists advanced-skill employees with repairs.
Performs preventative maintenance inspections and related repairs.
Complies with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
