Job summary

Transdev is seeking a Mechanic - A (III) for the West Yard in Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, performing preventative maintenance, and leading diagnostics to resolve complex issues.

You will work with a team to ensure accurate repairs, mentor junior technicians, and maintain safety and inspection standards across diesel systems. The position requires ASE certifications and a willingness to work flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
• ASE certifications required; program provided.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules.
• DOT drug testing and physical may apply per DOT Part 40.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and repairs on diesel engines.
• Perform routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with team to ensure efficient repairs.
• Complete PMs and safety inspections.
• Lead diagnostic tests and determine repair strategies for diesel engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting including overhauls and rebuilding of components.
• Mentor junior technicians to develop skills.
• Other duties as required.

• Starting pay $35.46 / hr
• ASE $0. 25 per cert $0.30 additional for master ASE
• Master ASE total $2.30 above hourly rate

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on diesel engines.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs
• Complete preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
• Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
• ASE certifications required; ASE certification program provided.
• Mechanic’s Tool Set
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
