Transdev is seeking a Light Duty Technician in Capitol Heights, MD to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across our fleet, ensuring safety and reliability for customers. You’ll perform light to moderate maintenance with supervision, keeping accurate records and supporting road calls as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience.
• Adhere to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.

• Strong customer service skills and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Maintain an organized shop and clean work environment.

• Possess adequate mechanic tool inventory to complete all assigned duties and maintain tools in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs under moderate supervision including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.
• Maintain records of all maintenance work and parts used; ensure work orders are accurate and parts are ordered from designated suppliers.
• Assist with preventive maintenance (PMs) and safety/annual inspections at prescribed intervals.
• Remove and replace engine, transmission and differential assemblies under supervision.
• Diagnose and perform vehicle and equipment repairs under moderate supervision.
• Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective actions.
• Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek approval when required.
• Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary.
• Adhere to Transdev standards, policies and procedures.

Light Duty Technician

Transdev in Capitol Heights, Maryland is seeking a Light Duty Technician to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Light Duty Technician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs with moderate supervision on basic and advanced maintenance such as replacement of light bulbs, fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, check fluid levels, change fluids and filters and lubricate components.

• Perform mechanical repairs under moderate supervision including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.




• Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used. Ensure that work orders are completed properly and accurately. Maintain parts usage records and order repair parts from designated suppliers




• Assist Tech III with preventative maintenance (PM’s), safety maintenance inspections and annual maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals of time and usage




• Remove and replace engine, transmission and differential assemblies with Maintenance Technician III supervision.




• Diagnoses and performs accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under moderate supervision.




• Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken




• Evaluates completed work prior to release and seeks approval where required




• Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary




• Adhere to Transdev standards, policies and procedures




• Moves vehicles safely between job and work area




• Repair and maintain all shop equipment




• Cleans vehicles as requested or required




• Other responsibility as requested or required

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, pull or push a minimum of 50 pounds.




• Ability to work in a crouched position or on back, lying on mechanic’s creeper, beneath motor vehicle equipment
